Black Out Curtains

Black out curtains help to keep out the sunlight for those who work the night shift or those who take naps during the day, such as older adults or babies and children. There is a second benefit to these heavy duty curtains; they also keep drafts from coming in the window, allowing you to save on your utility bill. Black out curtains are made of heavy material to block out all sunlight, and some have a thermal backing making them help with your homes installation needs.

Sometimes black out curtains come with a curtain valances at the top to keep even more of the sunlight out of the room. Curtain valances are the material or small curtain at the top of the window that is usually pretty short and only covers about 10-15 inches of the window. They are sometimes called café curtains because they use them a lot in café’s. The curtain valances are almost always decorative and hang over the main curtains. They can be fancy and balloon outward, sometimes putting stuffing or plastic grocery bags in the curtain valances will help them stay puffy. It depends on the rest of the curtains.

Paul Simon curtains of London sells many styles and types of curtains including black out curtains and valances of all types and styles to match the several hundred curtains they have on sale daily. There are many Paul Simon Curtain Supercenters located throughout London and on the Internet for our shopping pleasure. Paul Simon is a designer curtain maker and also carries French country curtains and country kitchen curtains.

French country curtains have several different patterns to them, but mostly come in a citrus pattern. Various pieces of fruit, oranges, apples and pineapples seem to parade across a background of off-white, egg shell or cream colored curtains. Sometimes there is cursive lettering in dark blue or black stating the names of the fruit, such as orange or apple. Other French country curtains contain carriages and ladies sipping tea at a fancy table. One thing French country curtains can not be is black out curtains. They are too refined to be that thick and too light, being cream colored, however, it is not unheard of to place the French country curtains over thick white black out curtains which helps retain your French décor.

Not necessarily the old fashioned dolls and country kittens, country kitchen curtains are now gingham and checkerboard patterns with colors of mustard yellow or muted blue and sometimes red, white and blue. Patterns on the country kitchen curtains would be simple, such as apples or tea kettles or silhouettes of something or someone.

Again, depending on the material color for the country kitchen curtains, they can be placed on top of black out curtains to help keep out the sunlight and the drafts while maintaining a décor that is country kitchen.
